The national and international Congress eHealth 2003 - Telematics in Health Care was dedicated to Networked Health Care. The major section, which is comprehensively documented in this publication, focussed on the European perspective of health telematics. This concern for Europe reflects the coercive need for co-operation and co-ordination in this field. Experts from various European Member States and Newly Associated States presented their national strategies and implementation plans. They also offered insights into already-in-use technologies and applications. High-level representatives from the European Commission and the European health telematics platform EHTEL advocated the European cause.
